I make myself want to puke.

Tomorrow is my boyfriend's and my 1 year anniversary. Because our anniversary is on a Monday, we decided to make a weekend of it and celebrate on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, we went to a Chicago Wolves hockey game. It's a pretty fun time- they make a huge spectacle out of everything with fireworks and pyrotechnics. Super over-the-top, but all American sports are, really.

Anyways, I had something planned. Something so cheesy that when it happened, I almost didn't want to point it out because I was so embarassed that I did it. About ten minutes into the game, this popped up on one of the big screens:

Yes, it's sickening, isn't it? I'm usually not like that...I don't know what got into me. And, because every serious announcement should end with one, I ended it with a "Goulet!" (SNL? Will Ferrell as Robert Goulet? No? Ok.)

I was unsure as to whether my metalhead boyfriend would appreciate a sugary sweet public declaration of love, but he really liked it. Apparently nobody had ever done anything like that for him before, so he was pretty shocked.

Just thought I'd share with you the most nauseating thing I think I've ever done. Hope you all didn't puke a little in your mouths.

NO YOU DID NOT!!!!! The whole time I was reading this I was literally lol!!! I totally did not peg you as the sentimental type... I love it!

Congrats on the 1 year anniversary... I'm only like 80% jealous :)

Oh, knock it off....you needn't be ashamed of a lovely sentimental gesture. There is absolutely nothing wrong with telling someone you love them. Hell...if they are not too busy trying to be cool they will probably love you for it.

When I opened this post, saw the picture, and read what it said, I giggled. Goulet = awesome! Thus I think it could just as easily be considered a humorous gesture as a sappy romantic one!

It could have been worse. You could have sent him flowers or a singing telegram.

Well he might of preferred a stripper-gram but this was pretty cool too!

:)

Who won the game?

Wow! I seriously can't imagine you doing that. But it was a sweet gesture. He'll always have the story of the one who publicly declared her love.

Congrats on 1 year! I think the big sign is pretty cool. Also, live hockey games are so fun, one of my favorite sporting events to attend.

Now I am going to have to totally re-think my picture of you... that is seriously sickly sweet... We are celebrating almost 25 years this year... the way things are looking this week - he will be lucky to get a stick of gum!

Oh and BTW... moving to wordpress was a snack.. they have an export button and it was perfect. But I lost all my comments (but that might have been my fault for dicking around so much) and wordpress.com doesn't let you use a lot of gadgets that I like, like Google friends connect. But it is a sweet ride... feels grown up. Well, I suppose I am grown up - I just admited I have been hanging with the same guy for 25 years - truth is we married when I was 2... he on the other hand is really really old. ;)
